Fish the Rogue from Denny's new boat. Built with state-of-the art materials and technology. The hull is a composite of Port Orford Cedar and carbon fiberglass, trimmed out with Mahogany and Ash. It is one of the most comfortable, warm, quiet, and soft riding boats you'll ever fish. It took two years to build. We started from scratch with rough cut lumber and built the boat here in our shop. You really have to fish in it to appreciate fishing in luxury.

January Through March
There are five world class winter steelhead rivers to choose from within a 35 mile radius. The Rogue River in Gold Beach being the largest of them and is fished from a 25 foot covered/heated jet boat. Steelhead in the Rogue River this time of year range from 6 to 12 pounds with a few larger ones.
The Chetco, Elk, sixes, and Illinois Rivers are all outstanding blue ribbon winter steelhead streams, being much smaller than the Rogue River, they are fished in sixteen foot McKenzie style drift boats. These boats seat two anglers and one guide. The fishing on these rivers can be exciting with steelhead ranging from 6 to 20 pounds on occasion.
On all our winter trips we use light action 7 1/2 to 8 foot rods with eight pound line. With this equipment it makes landing one of these extremely hot sea run rainbows a real thrill. With five rivers to choose from, one is bound to have conditions we're looking for.
Late March through
June

The world famous Spring Chinook Salmon, these fish are the most sought after salmon there are. They are known for their extremely hard fight and for their wonderful flavor when broiled or barbecued. With the Rogue River supporting the most healthy run in the Pacific North West this is a very busy time for Denny. We use a covered/heated 25 foot jet boat for these fish and provide a hot breakfast on board. The boat is top of the line and have all the comforts needed.
The Spring Salmon range from 16 to 45 pounds with an average weight being about 22 pounds. We start fishing very early in the morning and call it a day around 3 in the afternoon. We can comfortably take up to 4 anglers in each boat.

July and August
Brings in the Summer and early Fall run of Chinook Salmon. The average Chinook will run 16 to 60 pounds with an average weight about 25 pounds. We mainly troll the mouth of the Rogue River in the bay and estuary for these fish as they work in and out of the bay and into the ocean with the daily tides, getting ready for the fall migration run up stream. This is fun, action packed fishing, as there is always something going on.

September through November
We need more of these months, as there is so much to do. Summer steelhead are in the river. These great fish we like to call, "half pounders", named by Zane Gray back in the 1930's are hard fighting fish. These Summer steelhead range from 2 to 5 pounds, and take a fly very aggressively. We also use light conventional tackle. Normally we have lots of action fishing for these sea run rainbows this time of year also coupled with the great fall weather we have it makes for a very enjoyable outdoor adventure.
October
The Rogue River boasts on the largest runs of Coho Salmon (Silvers). We fish these beauties with light trolling gear or light spinning tackle and spinners. Coho usually run from 6 to 12 pounds and give you a work out.
November
Fall Chinook Salmon and the last of the season. These big bruisers enter the smaller streams after he first fall rains. The Chetco, Elk and Sixes Rivers have large runs of Fall Chinook, they can average in the 30 pound class with some weighing in slightly more. Fish of this size in a small fast river, fishing out of a 16 foot McKenzie drift boat powered only with oars can be a real challenge, even for the most skilled fisherman. This will be a memorable trip.
We are located in Gold Beach, Oregon and welcome you to stay for a few days. There are many accommodations, attractions, and sights to see. About Denny Born and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, I started fishing with my father before I could walk and learned to row a boat before I could ride a bike. I built my first drift boat in wood shop in high school, joined a boating club and started running all the wild and scenic rivers in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, as the only boy in an all men's club. I started guiding in 1966 for a company that operated on the Rogue
River and Deschutes Rivers. In 1970 I started my own company, "Northwest River Outfitters," and worked many rivers in Oregon and Idaho: Deschutes, Rogue, Grand Ronde, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Snake River through Hells Canyon, Willamette, Santiam and Siletz just to name a few.
In 1986 I decided to turn all the trips over to my son, Craig and do only the Rogue River. I moved to Gold Beach and built a home over looking the Rogue River and the Pacific Ocean. Living in Gold Beach is like a dream come true. It is extremely beautiful and filled with friendly people. Gold Beach is the perfect place to be based for my canyon trips and offers endless opportunities for the
Rogue River day trips with many salmon runs coming in.
